Wildlife at Moors Meadow

Moors Meadow is a haven for wildlife this is due to being organic, having water features and a mixed species of planting. Just some of the animals to be seen are badgers, hares, stoats and weasels, pipistrel and long eared bats there are also a lot of grass snakes, frogs, toads and newts. There are numerous insects the most noticeable being the butterflies, moths, dragonflies and damselflies.

Since the year 2000 there have been 56 species of birds seen in the garden; the tawny, barn and little owl, buzzards, kestrels and sparrow hawks, attracted to the water are the duck, coot , moorhen, Canada goose, heron and kingfisher. Some of the numerous smaller birds include wren, siskin, goldfinch, long tailed tits, nuthatch, tree creeper, thrush, skylark, spotted fly catcher, and swallow along with green and greater spotted woodpeckers.
