3. Collection of unusal grasses

Wind your way down through a sea of grasses of varied size, form and colour from the small black Ophiopogon nigrescens to the tall elegant Stipa gigantea the sky blue Elymus magellanicus to the bright red Imperata cylindrica rubra blood tips and if you look carefully you may see the steely grey Carex fereous! Even though the grass garden catches the cold east wind there are many tender plants such as a variety of Yucca’s and Phormiums, Acacia pravissima, Corokia cotoneaster (wire netting bush) and the houseplant Billbergia nutans.
